On April 16, SUMEC MARINE, together with its subsidiary NEW DAYANG, successfully signed a construction contract with the world's top shipowner Seaspan for four 65,200 DWT open-hatch gantry crane multipurpose vessels. LI Kun, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Seaspan, and HE JUN, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of SUMEC Group, and Secretary of the Party Committee & Chairman of SUMEC MARINE, attended the signing ceremony.

As the world's largest independent container shipowner, Seaspan enjoys an outstanding industry reputation and has deep cooperative ties with many top shipyards globally. This partnership not only represents a high recognition of SUMEC's comprehensive strength and construction capabilities but is also a strategic choice based on industry trends.

The contracted vessel features a flexible, high-efficiency gantry crane design combined with a box-shaped cargo hold structure, offering strong loading versatility. SUMEC MARINE will work with top design institutes and crane manufacturers to build these vessels, filling a nearly 30-year gap in China's construction of this vessel type.

This cooperation is of far-reaching significance to SUMEC MARINE, representing a key step in breaking through the limitations of conventional vessel types and entering the high-value-added vessel segment. It will not only accumulate valuable technical experience and enhance overall technological strength but also further optimize the business structure and enrich the vessel product portfolio, helping SUMEC MARINE achieve a dual improvement in brand competence and operational quality. This ensures that "Made in China" becomes the firm first choice for the world's top shipowners, laying a solid foundation for high-quality development.
