On June 18, NEW DAYANG Shipyard under SUMEC MARINE successfully delivered the 41,000DWT Handysize bulk carrier "FANOULA" to a Greek shipowner. The naming ceremony was attended by sponsor Ms. Fanoula Stafilopati, Dimitris Achillias (Newbuilding Director of the shipowner), Richard Welch (Commercial Director of Lloyd’s Register), Xu Bin (General Manager of SUMEC MARINE), and other distinguished guests.
"FANOULA" is the first of four 41,000DWT Handysize bulk carriers being built by NEW DAYANG for the shipowner. Designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI), the vessel is an upgraded version of the classic Green Dolphin40 series. It features an optimized shallow-draft design to maximize deadweight, ultra-low fuel consumption, compliance with the latest environmental regulations, and deck cranes for self-loading/unloading capabilities—offering a highly competitive transport solution for clients.
This delivery marks SUMEC MARINE’s achievement of delivery milestones across three major mid-sized bulk carrier segments: HANDYSIZE, ULTRAMAX, and KAMSARMAX, realizing full coverage of mainstream products in the mid-sized bulk carrier market. Looking ahead, SUMEC MARINE will actively align with the industry’s green and low-carbon development trends, advancing R&D and construction of green-energy vessels to promote sustainable, high-quality growth.
