Sumec Marine’s Strategic Positioning for Green Development and Differentiated Competition

Sumec Marine’s strategic positioning, which leverages its inherent advantages to pursue green development and differentiated competition, aligns perfectly with the shipbuilding industry’s low-carbon development goals.

Green Design

The company’s flagship product, the CROWN63 series, has been upgraded to the CROWN63PLUS model, achieving impressive results in energy conservation. With fuel consumption per ton-kilometer below 1 gram, the CROWN63PLUS model demonstrates outstanding efficiency, leading to over 80 orders. Additionally, Sumec Marine is working on iterative upgrades to the CROWN82 bulk carrier, which will include formaldehyde tanks as the company strives to break through in the development of autonomous dual-fuel vessels.

Green Products

New Dayang has built the world’s first dual-fuel feeder container ship with a capacity of 950 TEU, equipped with formaldehyde tanks and a dual-fuel main engine. This vessel can operate on both traditional diesel and clean energy formaldehyde, marking a pioneering step in environmentally-friendly shipping.

Green Manufacturing

New Dayang employs low-resistance paints to optimize hull coatings, reducing shipping drag and achieving about 5% energy savings. For domestic trade vessels, New Dayang has introduced shaft generators, reducing energy consumption by 3-4%. Additionally, the shipyard uses shore power for vessels under construction, which minimizes diesel use and reduces environmental impact.

Green Factory Development

The company has invested over 30 million yuan in comprehensive upgrades to New Dayang’s pre-processing line and paint booths to meet national emission standards. To tackle welding fumes, more than 150 mobile collection devices have been purchased. Energy-intensive equipment like air compressors and welding machines have been optimized using variable frequency technology, while outdated equipment has been phased out to reduce energy consumption. Another 30 million yuan has been invested in developing a rainwater and wastewater separation system at the New Dayang facility to reduce industrial and domestic water pollution in the Yangtze River.

Sumec Marine remains committed to green transformation, reinforcing our confidence and determination. By enhancing talent reserves and increasing R&D investment, we aim to further strengthen our core competitiveness in the green development field, establishing ourselves as the leading shipbuilding company in niche market segments.

Green Shipping

Embracing the trends of green, low-carbon, and intelligent development within the shipping industry, we are committed to ocean environmental protection and sustainable development by implementing various green shipping measures:

Clean Sailing

We strictly comply with international conventions, adopting qualified fuel oil and actively exploring solution to reduce pollutant emissions.

Energy Efficiency

By applying digital means, we monitor ships’ performance and optimize voyages to ensure energy efficiency.

Fleet Renewal

We continually renew ships in our fleet to increasing port and cargo compatibility while simultaneously improving the ship performance.

Emission control

In order to protect ocean environment, SCR and Scrubber systems are wildly applied in fleet to remove hazardous NOX and SOX from marine exhausts.

Waste Disposal

We implement stringent waste segregation and treatment measures, ensuring that all waste is disposed of scientifically and without harm to the environment.

We believe that through our continuous efforts, we can not only provide excellent services to our clients but also contribute to sustainable development. Together, let's navigate towards a brighter future!
